WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR FOURTH ANNUAL NYC NEIGHBORHOOD LIBRARY AWARDS

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation and Charles H. Revson Foundation, in association with WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show, announced the 5 grand prize winners of the fourth annual NYC Neighborhood Library Awards. The 5 winners, selected by a panel of esteemed judges, each won $20,000 for outstanding service to their communities. The Heckscher Foundation for Children awarded the Heckscher Prize for Outstanding Service to Children and Youth and $20,000 to the Grand Concourse Library (the Bronx). The 5 additional finalist library branches received $10,000 each. This year, the Aguilar Library (Manhattan), Stapleton Library (Staten Island), and the Sheepshead Bay Library (Brooklyn) each received a Perennial Excellence Award and $10,000 in recognition of their consistently stellar services year after year; and the Bronx Library Center was awarded $20,000 and the Award for Distinction in Service for their specialized work within their community. Click here to read our press release and find out more about the winners.

FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR FOURTH ANNUAL NYC NEIGHBORHOOD LIBRARY AWARDS

The Charles H. Revson Foundation and Stavros Niarchos Foundation, in association with WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show, are excited to announce the 10 finalists for the 4th annual NYC Neighborhood Library Awards! These 10 finalists were selected based on a rigorous review of over 24,000 nominations from library users across the City. 

Due to an overwhelmingly positive response from patrons, the NYC Neighborhood Library Awards have added a new Perennial Excellence Award to recognize libraries that have been consistently stellar over the years.

The Heckscher Foundation for Children will once again award the Heckscher Prize for Outstanding Service to Children and Youth to one additional library branch that has proven their commitment to this City’s youth through special programs, classes, and events. The winner of this award will also receive a prize of $20,000 to spend on their branch.

The Awards recognize and reward public libraries for being the unsung heroes of New York - places where all are welcome, the programs and resources are free, and the librarians are making it all happen on a shoestring budget.

In a new twist this year, a sixth branch was chosen to receive a $20,000 prize: the Heckscher Foundation for Children awarded the Heckscher Prize for Outstanding Service to Children and Youth to the Jerome Park Library (the Bronx). The 5 additional finalist library branches received $10,000 each.
